What is neck lift recovery like?
Neck lift recovery is comparable to facelift recovery but focused on the lower face and neck region.
Days 1-3: Immediate Post-Op
- Compression chin strap or head wrap worn continuously
- Tightness and soreness more than sharp pain
- Swelling and bruising concentrated under the chin and along the jawline
- Sleep with head elevated at 30+ degrees; avoid turning your head — move your whole body
Week 1: Early Recovery
Sutures checked or removed at days 5-7. Bruising migrates downward to the chest. Numbness under the chin is normal.
Weeks 2-3: Social Recovery
Most visible bruising fades. Many patients return to work. The new jawline contour starts to show.
Weeks 4-8: Return to Normal
Light exercise at week 4; full exercise at 6 weeks. Neck tightness gradually eases.
Months 3-12: Final Results
Neck contour finalizes by month 3. Scars become well-hidden behind the ears and under the chin. Results typically last 8-12 years.
