Common Concerns

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a Good Candidate for Dermaplaning?

The ideal candidate for Dermaplaning has aging, dry, rough or uneven skin tone. Dermaplaning can also help reduce the appearance of shallow acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles and superficial hyperpigmentation. If you personally experience any of those symptoms, then you may be a good candidate.

How Often Should I Get This Treatment?

Dermaplaning erases 21 days worth of dead skin cells, so it is best to allow the skin to complete its natural rejuvenation process before your next treatment. Typically Dermaplaning can be performed every 3-4 weeks.

How Should I Care for My Skin After A Dermaplaning Treatment?

After a Dermaplaning treatment your skin will need time to naturally heal and restore itself. Treat the skin gently, using only hands to cleanse for at least 2 days and wear SPF sunscreen daily for protection. Although there is no “downtime” for this treatment, it is still best to avoid irritating the skin any further.

Is Dermaplaning Safe?

When properly performed by a licensed Aesthetician or skincare professional, this is a very safe procedure. There is no more risk to the skin than when you shave your legs. There is no downtime or recovery associated with Dermaplaning either.

Will My Hair Grow Back Thicker and Darker?

No. Dermaplaning will NOT alter your natural hair growth process. As we remove the vellus hair, we are cutting it at the thickest part of the hair follicle so it may give the illusion of being thicker or darker for a brief period of time. However, this perceived difference is cosmetic and most patients rarely even notice at all.
